What's wattvision?

Wattvision is a hardware and software solution for your energy monitoring needs. It's a whole-house energy monitoring system that gathers data from your electricity meter, uploads it over your 802.11B Wi-Fi network, and presents it to you in real-time on the web at wattvision.com, or on your iPhone or Android device.

Why is Wattvision unique?

NO ELECTRICIAN REQUIRED. Installing a device in your breaker box -- a procedure required for many of our competitors -- is risky. Wattvision's patent-pending sensor system sticks to the surface of your electricity meter. No breaker boxes to open or current transformers to install. Just run a wire from a sensor on your meter to the Wattvision Gateway, which sits indoors. It's that simple.

ACCURATE. Wattvision gets data from your meter -- the same place your power company gets data. Competing systems use current transformers to recreate what's already inside your utility meter, which is often inaccurate.

SOCIAL. If you choose to share data, you can see where your house stands among other homes on our system. It's a list sorted by energy use, and normalized by size and number of occupants.

ONLY 3 COMPONENTS. A sensor for your meter, a gateway, and a power supply is all you need for the wattvision system. Once set up, you never need to touch or look at it again. You just view the data online or on your phone.

Why is Wattvision better than the retired Google PowerMeter product?

ALERTS. With wattvision, you can set alerts if your use crosses a threshold you set, or even if your sensor goes offline for more than 30 minutes. This works even if your home or business internet connection drops. See the settings page on your house.

REAL-TIME DATA. PowerMeter is better suited for long-term trends in energy use. Wattvision gives you real-time data updated up to every 10 seconds -- so you can see things as they turn on and off in your house.

REAL-TIME RANKINGS. Homes using less than the system-wide average have a green roof, homes with more have a red roof. This is visible on the browse houses page.
